The Financial Administration Department is responsible for the collection and disbursement of all City Funds and maintenance of the City’s financial records. These responsibilities include preparation and management of the City’s budget, payment of accounts payable, issuing property tax bills, receiving tax payments, preparing City payrolls and providing management financial reports.

You can now make payments for solid waste collection, water and sewer utility bills, and property taxes using the interactive payment websites offered by Magic Wrighter, Inc or Official Payment Corporation. You may also use the lockbox in front of City hall, pay at the Finance Department's counter, or mail your payment to the appropriate bank.

Headlee Amendment - What does it mean?

The Headlee Amendment was ratified in 1978 and  limited the growth of property tax revenue. The Headlee Amendment requires that when growth on existing property community wide is greater than inflation, the local government must “roll back” its maximum authorized millage rate so that the increase in property tax revenue caused by growth on existing property does not exceed inflation.  Resources on the Headlee Amendment

Proposal A - What does it mean?

In 1994 Michigan voters approved Proposal A, a  constitutional amendment which significantly modified the taxing structure within the State of Michigan.
