Ways kids can help with fire prevention at home
Make sure your family has installed
smoke detectors on each level of the house.
Remind adults to check
smoke detectors and replace the batteries when they change the clocks in the
spring and fall.
Help plan the family's
escape in case of fire, and make sure everyone knows the outside meeting
place.
Never play with matches, lighters or candles! Set a good example for friends
and younger siblings.
Learn about firefighting and
fire safety – Attend Camp 911!
If you are entering
fifth grade in the fall (ages 9-11), you can take part in the exciting fire prevention
day camp called CAMP 911! You learn about fire safety and what firefighters
do while having fun! Have an adult call (248) 624-1055 for more
information.
Fire Prevention Activities At Your School
Watch for the Wixom
firefighters to come to your school during the fall and National Fire Prevention
Week. Learn about keeping safe from fire, and make sure you and your family
attend the Fire Department's Open House at the end of the week.
