Objective:
Provide additional support for coaches and players to further their knowledge of
the soccer by teaching the basic techniques of the game. Players and coaches
will be introduced to multiple proven drills and small sided games in a stress
free environment.

Where: Gibson Park on Pontiac Trail
Kids will be introduced to the game of soccer in a fun recreational
atmosphere. Three year-olds will get their first exposure to the most popular
sport in the world. The program is organized with fun drills and
non-competitive small sided games (3 v 3 or 4 v 4). The focus will be on
running, balance, foot-eye coordination, dribbling, and kicking (scoring and
passing) with an introduction to teamwork and cooperation. Along the way the
players will develop the skills necessary for other sports and help prepare
them for school: listening, practice, and patience. All parents are expected
to participate with their child at the beginning.

The Wixom Parks & Rec U9 and older
divisions are governed by Western Suburban Soccer League (WSSL), the largest
league in Michigan. WSSL represents over 27 soccer programs in the Metro Detroit
area. Over 400 teams play in U9 level an up to high school
recreation & select play.
Please register early. Games will be played in Wixom and local areas ie:
Milford, Plymouth, South Lyon, Farmington, Novi, etc. For more information check

WEATHER______________________________________
Threatening Weather:
Parents- please go to the field and wait for the final call from the referee
regarding play. As you know in Michigan the weather changes hour by hour so some
games may be played and some games may be cancelled all in the same day.
Excessive
Wet Fields- the City reserves the right to cancel games if fields are
excessively wet. This will decrease permanent damage to fields. Every effort
will be made to inform the coaches before hand- however there may be instances
that games are cancelled just before your game time. Coaches & Parents can call
the City of Wixom at 248-624-2850 to check for cancellations made on game day.
Reschedules:
The U6 & U8 Games will not be rescheduled- however if you want to hold a
scrimmage with the other team- please do so at your time and convenience other
than Saturdays.
The U9 & Up WSSL games will be rescheduled. Please contact Linda
at 248-624-2850 to reschedule.

MICHIGAN STRIKERS CLUB________________________________
Who are the Michigan Strikers? 
The City of Wixom is pleased to announce a
working partnership with Michigan Strikers
to
further the development of players and coaches.
In a long term commitment to this area the
Strikers staff will host clinics, camps and coaching seminars for Wixom & Walled
Lake School house soccer programs. They will be providing technical instruction
training as well as offering soccer advice for players, coaches and families.
They will be
offering the free Monday night clinics along with Wixom Coach Coordinator Mark
Swayne. Clinics will be for coaches, parents and players.
