The Mayor and City Council of the City of Wixom are pleased to announce the appointment of Clarence E. Goodlein as City Manager. Mr. Goodlein has been appointed to this position after nearly 35 years of service to the City of Wixom, 5 years as its Police Chief and 10 years as its Police Chief and Director of Public Safety. Mr. Goodlein brings to his new position, leadership and management experience that include the successful administration and direction of the Wixom/I-96 multi-jurisdictional shooter investigation and Task Force in 2012 and command of police personnel during the 1996 Ford Motor Company shootings.
Mr. Goodlein is a 1984 graduate of Madonna University’s Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice program, a 1992 Psi Chi honors graduate of the University of Detroit-Mercy’s Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology program, and a 2004 Pi Alpha Alpha honors graduate of Oakland University’s Master of Public Administration program. He is a graduate of the FBI National Academy, and Executive Leadership Programs at both the Southern Police Institute and Senior Management Institute for Police. He is a Michigan Limited License Psychologist and Adjunct Professor of Counseling Psychology, Research Methods, and Statistics at Rochester College where he has served as such for ten years.
Mr. Goodlein has served as a committee member and secretary of the Lower Peninsula Law Enforcement Risk Control Advisory Committee of the Michigan Municipal Risk Management Association and as a member of the Board of Directors of the Michigan Association of Professional Psychologists.
Mr. Goodlein brings to his new duties and responsibilities knowledge, experience, and leadership that are sound and proven, and that will provide our community with success as it proceeds into the future.
